It was my love of systems that led me to music theory. In my free time, I take a break from the ephemera of tech and take some solace in this long enduring system, composing minimalistic pieces on my Roland Kiyola piano.
This piece started as an improvisation. What stood out to me was how it seemed to oscillate between a major and minor mode.
Sometimes I just hit record on the Kiyola and noodle around. The next day I listen over it and pull out bits that I think may be the start of an idea. This is one of those segments. It feels like it starts in the middle, but it has a really nice conclusion. Someday, I may develop this into a fuller piece, but for now there is something I like about it just as it is.
